Overview

As a Development Engineer specializing in Hyrel 3D printing, you will be responsible for researching, designing, and developing cutting-edge 3D printing systems, components, and materials. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, materials scientists, and software developers, to bring novel concepts to life and improve our existing 3D printing technologies.

Responsibilities:
Hyrel 3D Printer Development: Lead the design and development of next-generation Hyrel 3D printing platforms, including hardware, firmware, and software components.
Materials Development: Work closely with materials scientists to explore and evaluate new 3D printing materials compatible with the Hyrel 3D printing technology, focusing on enhancing performance and material properties.
Prototype Design: Create and refine prototypes for new 3D printing concepts, ensuring they meet design specifications and performance objectives.
Process Optimization: Develop and implement process improvements for existing 3D printing technologies, aiming to enhance print speed, accuracy, and reliability.
Testing and Validation: Conduct rigorous testing and validation of 3D printers, materials, and processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and quality requirements.
Technology Integration: Collaborate with software and electronics teams to integrate hardware and firmware components seamlessly and ensure optimal performance of the 3D printing systems.
Research and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in 3D printing technology, materials, and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and project reports.
Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot technical challenges during the development process, proposing effective solutions to overcome obstacles.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering teams and departments to foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in 3D printing, specifically with Hyrel 3D printers, including system setup, calibration, and operation.
Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for design and modeling of mechanical components and assemblies.
Familiarity with firmware and software development for 3D printers, including G-code generation and printer control.
Knowledge of various 3D printing materials and their properties, with a focus on thermoplastic filaments and resin-based materials.
Hands-on experience in rapid prototyping, 3D printing post-processing, and materials characterization.
Understanding of additive manufacturing principles, including Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and Stereolithography (SLA).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
Strong organizational and project management abilities to effectively lead and execute development projects.
Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings to stakeholders.
