What is BIM?

BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a digital process using intelligent 3D models that carry geometry and data. BIM enables stakeholders to plan, design, construct and manage buildings and infrastructure collaboratively — reducing errors, accelerating approvals and improving lifecycle outcomes.

How BIM works

Models from different disciplines (architecture, structural, MEP) are federated into a single environment for analysis, clash detection, simulation and digital handover. When connected to a CDE, the model becomes the single source of truth for the project lifecycle.

Is BIM just 3D modelling?
No — BIM includes geometry plus data (schedules, costs, manufacturer details) and supports 4D/5D/6D workflows and lifecycle management.
What is LOD?
Level of Development (LOD) describes the amount of detail and information in a model. Typical ranges: LOD 100 (concept) to LOD 500 (as-built).
Which CDE should we use?
